The Centre for Sustainable Dryland Ecosystem and Societies (CSDES) is hosting a team of faculty members from Colorado State University (CSU).  The main objectives of the CSU visit is to: assess Open Distance Learning/E-learning facilities at University of Nairobi Kikuyu campus, Kibwezi field station, Isiolo and Samburu; to review and develop dryland curriculum; and finalization of the call for CSDES Research Grant Proposals.

The team will also hold consultations with individual lecturers on course development for e-learning, meet with the stakeholders and potential end users of ODL/e-learning platform. The team is in the country from 23rd September to 19th October 2012. Dr. Stacy Lynn; Dr. Dave Swift and Dr. Bob Woodmansee are representing the CSU team. CSDES has partnered with CSU with the aim of enhancing University of Nairobi to produce high performing graduates and quality, demand driven research that will contribute to more sustainable and productive dryland ecosystem and societies. 

CSDES aims to improve the capacity of pastoralists to cope up with the many challenges they face in the sustainability of their lands and societies in the 21st Century. The Centre specially puts emphasis on access to higher education as a lasting empowerment to pastoralists.
