GOVSEA PROJECT WORKSHOP ON DOING BUSINESS IN FRAGILE STATES HELD IN DENMARK

The African Drylands Institute for Sustainability (ADIS) in the University of Nairobi facilitated Dr. Wasonga V. Oliver and Philemon O. Ng’asike to travel to Denmark for a seminar and a workshop.

Dr. Wasonga V. Oliver is a Senior Lecturer in the University of Nairobi, and Philemon O. Ng’asike, is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT), at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS). The two joined a team of researchers at the Danish Institute for International Studies for a seminar and at Roskilde University for a workshop, in Denmark.

The theme of the seminar was ’doing business in fragile states’, and the workshop was focusing on the presentation of research findings by doctoral students supported by the collaborative research project titled ’Governing Economic Hubs and Flows in Somali East Africa (GOVSEA).

Philemon’s work is focusing on the analysis of cross-border livestock trade between Kenya and Somalia. Ahmed Musa, another Ph.D. student supervised by Dr. Wasonga joined the seminar and the workshop on skype.

The workshop was held at Roskilde University under the coordination of the Project Director Prof. Tobias Hagman, associate professor at the Department of Society and Globalisation at Roskilde University, and Prof. Finn Steputtat; Senior Researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies.
