Overview

FruVase, was led by University of Göttingen (UGOE) in collaboration with Erfurt University of Applied Sciences (EUAS) and University of Nairobi in Kenya (UoN), Makerere University (MUG) in Uganda, Nelson-Mandela African Institution for Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Tanzania, Université d’Abomey Calavi (UAC) and Université de Parakou (UoP) in Benin.

Deficiencies in vitamins and minerals in human nutrition and waste of fruits and vegetable along the value chain are major constrains in Sub-Saharan Africa. Seasonality and long distances between production areas and potential consumption centres further contribute to the problem.
