The College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences and University of Nairobi at large has taken leadership to in part respond to this challenge; through capacity building for micro-propagation and certification of cassava planting materials to enhance productivity, incomes and food security and nutrition for small holder farmers in Coastal Kenya and Uganda.

Commonwealth Climate Resilience Challenge Grants

ACU Commonwealth Climate Resilience Challenge Grants are awarded to member universities to support initiatives addressing climate resilience. Aimed at academic and professional staff, the grants support collaborative work focused on either of the two main strategic priorities of the Commonwealth Climate Resilience Network (CCRN):

The University of Nairobi marks 50 years since it was transformed into the first national University in Kenya on July 1, 1970. 

The University Management has mandated several activities to be included in the golden jubilee celebrations at various levels. One of the activities is holding of webinars on research breakthroughs at the University of Nairobi as well as topical subjects involving local, national and global challenges and opportunities.

$6 million grant from USAID for Animal Health Innovation Lab

The Allen School’s Global Health – Kenya will lead the Feed the Future Animal Health Innovation Lab program taking an interdisciplinary approach to addressing livestock diseases, working in partnership with scientists from the University of Nairobi, International Livestock Research Institute, Kenya Agriculture and Livestock Research Organization, and the Kenya Medical Research Institute.

The Shamba Shape Up Series 10 - Ep 24 aired on Citizen TV features the Zero Energy Brick Cooler (ZEBC), one of the technologies installed at the newly established 'Innovative Cold Storage Technologies: Research, Training and Demonstration Unit' at the field station of the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences.
